A short distance, fast paced race that promises to be exciting and competitive! Unlike our other races, only the first 3 finishers get paid. Everett Heseman is the only musher to have won 5 consecutive wins. He won from 1940 to 1947, there being a 3 year gap (1943-1945) during which there weren't any races due to World War II. Everett was known far and wide for his excellent dog teams which was one of the keys to his consistent wins. All of his wins were on the 10 lap course used at the time, which is why the 20 mile race is now named after him, since it is the closest in length. |
