Young mushers! We have not forgotten you. Our Junior Race is exclusivly for racers 16 years of age or younger. Warren Brown was the winner of the 1926 McCall race. At the time the McCall race was like a sister race to the Ashton race. That same year Warren came to race the 25 mile course in Ashton. He had a very mismatched team that was extremely well trained. At the very end one of his dogs was about to bolt, which was common due to the crowds. Warren's lead dog followed his voice command while he led the errant dog across the finish line just 8 minutes behind the winner to take second place. Warren was 13 years old. The junior race will now be the Warren Brown Race. |
